What is RF(Radiofrequency) Microneedling?
Micro-needling (also known as collagen induction therapy) is a minimally invasive treatment that has been used for decades to rejuvenate the skin. A device with fine needles or pins creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. Results can include improved texture and firmness, as well as skin resurfacing.
RF micro-needling adds the element of radiofrequency energy to the traditional micro-needling procedure. The RF energy is delivered via small needles into the dermis. In addition to the benefits seen with the micro-injury provided by the traditional microneedles, RF micro-needling also delivers RF energy deep into the dermis further enhancing skin tightening and scar reduction.
The RF energy heats the underlying layers of skin, causing constriction and tightening of the skin, as well as the stimulation of collagen and elastin production. Because the RF energy is delivered so deeply, it can produce faster results that are more dramatic.
RF Microneedling with the LegendPro from Lumenis smooths out fine lines and wrinkles and improves the texture of the skin.
RF Microneedling has the ability to improve or correct numerous skin issues including:
- Lines and wrinkles
- Skin laxity (sagging)
- Sun damage
- Age spots
- Eye bags
- Scarring (including acne scarring)
- Skin texture issues
- Overly large pores
- Stretch marks
Unlike laser skin resurfacing or deep chemical peels, RF Microneedling can deliver the energy where it's needed most, in the lower dermis, while minimizing the damage to the skin's surface.
What Should I Expect During a RF Microneedling Treatment?
RF Microneedling is an easy, safe and effective procedure. During your treatment, a Retuva professional will use a device to create tiny wounds in your skin. These wounds will then be treated with radiofrequency energy. This energy will help to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which can improve the appearance of your skin.
The amount of time that your treatment will take depends on the size of the treatment area. Most treatments last between 30-60 minutes.
After your treatment is complete, you may experience some redness and swelling. These symptoms should dissipate within a few days. You may also notice a slight improvement in the appearance of your skin immediately after your treatment. However, the full results will not be visible until several weeks after your treatment.
You should also avoid using any harsh chemicals on your skin (such as those found in acne treatments) for at least two weeks. This gives the punctures time to heal. It is also recommended to avoid swimming and activities that may induce sweating. Bacteria can enter the pores, which could potentially lead to infection. Wait at least 24 hours before engaging in these activities again.
To achieve the optimal effect, 3-4 RF treatments are recommended. You'll start to notice results after your second treatment, but optimal results appear 3 months after the last treatment.
Does Microneedling Hurt?
Numbing cream is typically not required for RF Microneedling. However, for those who are sensitive to pain, we can apply a strong topical numbing ointment to the treatment area to make you as comfortable as possible.
Some of the areas on your face may be more sensitive to the needles, like your hairline, jawline, or forehead. It is because there is less skin between the dermis and the facial bones.
The professionals at Retuva utilize Legend Pro Voluderm RF microneedles which utilize the tiniest microneedles in the industry, thus further reducing discomfort during treatment, bleeding, and other unwanted side effects.
After the procedure, the skin may be sore or tender. This is normal and will usually go away within a few hours. Over-the-counter pain medication can be taken if needed. You can also expect some redness on the treated portions of your face. But the redness will go away after an hour. For some people, the skin may feel itchy after 24 hours, but this is normal.
What is PRP and Microneedling?
PRP Microneedling is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that breathes new life into your skin using the body's own growth factors, minus the need for any downtime. Targeting a variety of skin concerns like fine lines, acne scars, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and stretch marks, this collagen induction therapy harnesses the power of your body's natural growth factors and therapeutic processes to kickstart the production of fresh collagen and elastin. With zero downtime, it's no wonder PRP Microneedling has swiftly become a go-to for facial rejuvenation.
The platelet-rich plasma, loaded with growth factors, is then gently applied to the skin, supercharging and elevating the entire process. The end result? Improved skin texture and tone, a reduction in signs of aging, and a lasting, radiant glow. To ensure top-notch results without any unwelcome surprises, entrust your Microneedling treatments to an expert in the field.
